WELCOME TO Willie's Tropical Tattoo
It was great to see everyone who showed up for the Biketoberfest show. Thanks you for coming out and supporting veterans. We hope to see you March 9, 2023 for the next show during Bike Week 2023.
When discussing tattoos, Tropical Tattoo has become more than another tattoo shop, it's become a tradition. After more than two decades in the same location, Tropical has become one of the most established businesses in the greater Daytona Beach area.
Six days a week, the artists at Tropical Tattoo have been giving Daytona residents, tourists, and celebrities alike the same level of expertise and professionalism that has formed the backbone of the world famous Tropical Tattoo. Always with an eye for how to best represent your ideas, the artists are experts in all styles, custom drawings, paintings, cover ups, and even portraits.
Members of both the Florida Professional Tattoo Artist Guild, and the Alliance of Professional Tattoo Artists, and members of the Ormond Beach and Holly Hill Chamber of Commerce, Willie's staff upholds health and safety codes far beyond state law requirements. Tropical Tattoo is also licensed by the state of Florida and Volusia County.
Before putting yourself in the hands of beginners, scratchers, kitchen artists, or cheap amateur tattooists, stop by Tropical Tattoo and take a look around the shop and talk to any of the artists.
Clay has been an artist with Willie's Tropical Tattoo for many years. A few of his designs can be seen on his GALLERY.
Ron has been tattooing for 22 years, starting in September 1992 in his hometown of Clio, Michigan. He apprenticed with his long time friend Alley Cat after leaving the Marine Corps. Later Ron opened Electic Chair Tattoo with another childhood friend, Ronnie Lash "RIP", that has grown into 3 great Mid-Michigan shops. In 1995 Ron opened his own tattoo shop in Flint, Michigan named Artistic Fusion Tattoo, which specialized in custom tattooing from 1995-1999. Read more and view his gallery here:
John has been with Tropical Tattoo since 2015. John is a Daytona Beach native and has been a professional artist and tattooist for over 30 years in both the US and abroad. You can see more examples of Johns artwork at his portfolio and Instagram@himmelworks. A few of his designs can be seen in his gallery HERE.

Katie Crewse was born in Orlando and grew up loving art. She began tattooing 14 years ago. She enjoys tattooing color bomb, gray shade and micro tattoos. She began at tropical tattoo in May 2019. She is a great addition to the shop.
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO . . .
Success in the tattoo business is quite an accomplishment, longevity even rarer. Willie, at Tropical Tattoos has both under his belt. In business at the same locations since 1990, he understands that bikes and tattoos just go together.
Willie has seen the tattoo industry go from being subculture to mainstream over the years. When Willie became interested in having tattoos and developing it as a way of life, it was the fringe of society that belonged to that culture. Getting a tat was a statement. He still uses that statement on his shirts: I’m Not Your Role Model.
Just as the biker culture has been enveloped into mainstream life, so has the art of tattoos. Women and men from all walks of life, for all purposes, now come into tattoo parlours for their permanent inking.
Willie warns all considering body art to not take getting tatted lightly. Things to consider:
If you are sunburned, wait until you heal before getting a tattoo. The colours will not hold well on sunburned skin.
Alcohol impairs judgment and can cause increased bleeding. Do not drink before having a tattoo.
Research the establishment and view the artist portfolio.
Do not get a tattoo on a dare.
This is permanent. If you have any doubts about getting a tattoo, you are not ready.
Willie’s Tropical Tattoos is a member of the Alliance of Professional Tattooists and has been featured in magazines in Germany, France, Italy, Japan along with multiple articles in the U.S.
Each year you can attend the “Willie’s Ole’ School Chopper Show”, an event started several years back as the place custom builders, such as Adam Chandler from Chandler Originals and Jeff and Donnie from Sucker Punch Sally’s, met to ride for an afternoon. It has grown to over 130 bikes and is an event by itself.
Willie’s Tropical Tattoo is a part of the history of biking in Daytona and should be a destination during your visit.
